The Astrocartography Edit-Tapping into spirituality with Astrocartography
I’ll be one of the first people to say that some locations are truly special and can even awaken a part of ourselves that we weren’t aware of before.
Photos taken recently in Milazzo, Sicily, where my father’s side of the family is from. This protected marine area is definitely my happy place!
Some may argue that it’s corny to say things like “I feel a calling to go to X Place” or “I’m meant to live in X Place.” But I think it’s important to look at the context and hear people out, because oftentimes they’re onto something, whether they’re conscious of it or not.
The fact that spirituality has been heavily commodified and is, has been, and continues to be understood aids in discrediting the idea that certain places on Earth can help us awaken spiritually. But despite this, I stand by this idea fully. If not, I wouldn’t be a practicing Astrologer & Astrocartographer.
“Your intuition is your guide” in Spanish.
Recently, an Astrocartography client told me that she wanted to develop her spirituality and learn more about the metaphysical. We concluded that her current location was superb for her career in academia, but that it truly wasn’t activating much else. Luckily, I explained that she didn’t have to move to a new location, but that she should consider going on a trip or retreat to a place that could potentially be more spiritually inclined for her.
I recommended that she consider traveling to a location where her Sun IC, Neptune MC, and Venus IC lines all crossed.
I told her that the on the Sun IC, she line could experienced heightened vitality, energy levels, and confidence, on the Venus IC line, she could feel at peace and at ease, and that the Neptune MC could help her find a spiritual circle or community.
In previous issues of The Astrocartography Edit, I’ve emphasized the importance of the IC angle in the birth chart, especially when reading Astrocarotography. Why? Because the IC sign shows how you relate to your location, and planets, luminaries, and/or celestial bodies falling conjunct the IC can also have a pretty strong influence. The following are some of the IC placements that I’ve found, which often point to a spiritual association with a location:
IC in Pisces: This location could feel like a sanctuary, one’s own little corner of the universe, very introspective and connected to the metaphysical.
Jupiter IC Line: Could feel very spiritual, “happy place” energy, lots of spiritual growth and expansion, often supportive financially as well.
Moon IC Line: Could really feel like home, often points to a strong sense of belonging and inner peace, connectedness to yourself and others, heightened intuition.
Neptune IC Line: Neptune governs spirituality, and so this line could be ideal for a spiritual retreat and getting more in tune with the metaphysical.
A little more about Neptune Lines
I don’t usually recommend Neptune lines for long-term living, however, because they can sometimes feel stuck, stagnant, or bring a lack of clarity. But remember that planetary lines aren’t all good or all bad for everyone because it really depends on the individual, their birth chart, and their personal experiences.
That being said, the Neptune MC line can be supportive for finding a more spiritually-oriented community, working in spiritual careers, and providing spiritual services (hence, why I recommended it for my client!)
The Neptune AC line, or even having Neptune in the 1st House in a birth chart or relocated chart (I actually have this placement in my birth chart!) could make a person feel more connected to the metaphysical and heightened openness to spiritual, psychic, and otherworldly experiences. This placement can also activate the imagination big time!
North Node Lines
The lunar nodes in Astrology are mathematical points where the Moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic. The North Node is the point where the Moon’s orbit moves northward across the ecliptic, while the South Node is where the Moon’s orbit moves southward. The south node sign and house placement show us aspects of our character and personality that have been overemphasized in past lives, (in essence, where we’re “coming from”), whereas the north node reveals the experiences and mental and spiritual shift that a person must go through in order to fulfill our karmic destiny.
Given the spiritual significance of the lunar nodes, especially their relation to our soul’s evolution, North Node lines can be and often are very spiritual places for many people. These tend to be the places that we feel drawn to, but we can’t necessarily explain why, or places that play a role in shaping who are are and are destined to become.
I’d love to know-where’s your special place? Have you ever lived or traveled somewhere that you felt an inexplicable connection to??
